Brothers-

It is that time of year to begin thinking about refreshment. Spiritual refreshment and Revival!!!!

Join us for our 4th annual His Barn Revival and be one of 500 men worshipping in a unique pasture setting.

With the growth and response from our community and our efforts to provide an impactful experience to all attending, we are excited to share several improvements to this years Revival format.

We have moved the time of the Revival up in the day and lengthened the time by one hour. This enables us to increase the fellowship time before, during and after the Revival. The time this year is 1-5. We will be grilling food for those who would like to stay after and continue fellowship with others attending and the teachers.

A highlight of last year was the personal prayer time in the barn loft and by the pond. This will be offered again to those who are seeking a compassionate ear and voice.

Parking will be at Cornerstone Church located at the corner of 84th and Kalamazoo with shuttles again provided. In the event of rain, the Revival will be held at Cornerstone Church.

Our theme this year is “Living a Life of Relevance”, or conversely “Am I living an Irrelevant Life?” In fact if we were honest we might ask “what is the difference and why should I care?” What a tragedy it would be, to conclude our life on this earth only to find out that the accumulation of our life’s choices has missed the mark in God’s eye!!!!!

We again have a wonderful line-up of teachers exploring our theme with us including–

Dr. Freddie Scott, ex-professional football player, spokesperson for the Tony Dungy Foundation and founder of a ministry directed at fatherlessness in the african american community.
Kyle Ray, Senior Pastor of Kentwood Community Church.
Brian Molitor, author of several books and completing a project with Kirk Cameron to be released with the movie Courageous.
Ron Kool, Senior Pastor at Hillside CRC.

You will learn more about each of these men in the coming weeks. Read more on their backgrounds at our Revival website below.

We have promotional kits for any who would like them including posters, dvd’s, business invitation cards and bulletin inserts.

Brothers, please forward to your friends. Let’s fill the pasture!!!

And as always, bring a chair, bring a journal and bring a friend.

Revival is coming!!!!

I am forwarding this to every man in my outlook contacts that is within a couple hours of Grand Rapids because I believe this event is that powerful. Many of you I know personally through work, hockey, scouts, and school. Many others I only know as acquaintances through work, and our work together could be from almost 10 years ago. I hope you find this e-mail valuable, but if not, please forgive me for any inconvenience.

This event is a revival focused on developing a deeper relationship with God. Here is an excerpt from the invitation e-mail below:

The theme for this year is simply Revival. Revival is the process of transformation from death to life. Many men are physically alive, but dead emotionally and spiritually. And life’s purpose seems to be survival. What these men need, is Revival.

We encourage you to visit our website, reached through the attached invite, to receive the information you need to participate in this years Revival.. You will learn more about our speakers, on-line registration, timing and testimonials from past attendees. Included below are sample testimonies from last year–

“It was awesome, far more meaningful, thought provoking and intimate for me then a Promise Keepers event I had attended”.

“The first thing that caught my eye was seeing 250 men sitting in a pasture in the rain to hear what God wanted us to know and learn about”. .

I used to go through life, like many other men in our world today, thinking that God was some distant being and even if He had some grand plan my life was just a spec of dust that didn’t matter. I believed there was a God, I believed in Jesus, and would go to Church sometimes, but I never took the time to read the Bible and try to understand what God had planned for my life.

Several years ago I reached a point were nothing in life seemed to be going well. Like many people do, I put on a good front but all I was doing was surviving and everything felt empty. I was very fortunate to have a good friend who invited me to join a small men’s group that was doing a study series called “The Success That Matters”. This study has changed my life and Convicted me about the importance of having a closer relationship with God. A couple of men that organized the first Revival three years ago were in that group and I was blessed to be invited to the inaugural revival. I also attended the revival last year and God willing will be there again this year and I hope you will join us.

I now know that God wants to have a personal relationship with each and everyone of us. But in order to have that relationship we have to make God a priority in our lives. Please take the time to read the e-mail below, look at the attachment, and check out the website. Take 15 minutes to ‘listen’ to your heart and find out what God’s will for your life is, I promise you will not regret it.

This event is not affiliated with any single Church or particular religion. The group of men that have organized the Revivals are from 5 different churches and the speakers are from across the country. Their messages are VERY Powerful and will change your perspective about our purpose in life.

God Bless you all.

It was awesome; far more meaningful, thought-provoking, and intimate for me, then a Promise Keepers event I had attended. Not that comparisons are needed. I told my wife I was unsure why God wanted me there prior to going, other then I felt moved to do so in church, and remembered Doug Baker being moved so much by last year’s event.

The speakers were awesome. However the one that just blew my mind away was the gentleman from Mt, Pleasant. Each statement was so profound. I wanted to back up the tape and contemplate what God had just said through him. I found his wisdom and vision to be similar to some of C.S. Lewis statements.

I could relate to what you said about being a Christian man, but wanting more of what Dave Turner and others have; that peace and serenity place being constant, not just some of the time.

I did pray over a young man who was hurting deeply over past actions. I thought we would see each other at church but thus far we have not.

Thanks again for an absolutely awesome time.

Great work, by Godly men.

It was on the radio that Steve Taylor heard about and then felt led to share the idea of attending with a few of us men at church. I cannot speak for the others but for myself, the highlights included the opportunity give a hug and a word of encouragement to the young men you had up front. I am 70 years old and it was a privilege for me to do that. Second, it was exciting for me just to see another 250 like minded men gather together. I found this inspiring.

Did we act within 48 hours? Yes, we sure did. The following morning we agreed to meet as a group on Wednesday evening to discuss the potential of a men’s ministry in our community. There was feeling of excitement and cooperation. We established three service/fellowship type of events events for the months of Sept., Oct. and Nov. whereby we have something to invite other men to and begin the process of creating a common bond. We are now also in the process of serious prayer for the Holy Spirit to guide us in the birthing of this vision we have.

We have a tentative name for our ministry and that is: “AISI Men’s Ministry”. The letters come from the first letters of the first four words of Proverbs 27:17 “As Iron Sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another” We feel one of our major goals will be to keep each other accountable and this verse says it.

I am interested in your leadership program and we will continue to hold you men up in prayer. It is very obvious to me that the Holy Spirit is guiding your efforts. God Bless and thanks again for the great time on the 22nd. The rain served to drive the memories deeper into my mind.

The first thing that caught my eye was seeing 250 men sitting in a pasture in the rain to hear what god wanted us to know and learn about. This was the first real event I had thrown myself into at cornerstone church and was not sure what to expect, but boy was I shocked at how open and friendly everyone was. I thought it was amazing that no one left when it started to rain, and as the night went on it seemed the harder it rained the more it was meant to be that we were all there at that time and place. I know now what it means to be part of something bigger, and what we have to do as men to make this grow and work. I am in the process of getting married for the first time and my future wife has 2 boys, and seeing what it means to be a man and how we should teach and love our young men made me realize what I had missed in my childhood. I wish there would have been things like this when I was younger that me and my dad could have gone too, I know that I will do everything I can to make sure these boys learn what it means to have god in their life and how to enjoy him also. I hope to be at the next revivial and other events like this and bring the with me in the future as they grow older and need this in thier life. I thought all of the speakers did a great job at getting out the message that we as men need to learn and grow and be able to lean on each other when needed.

Wow – That really shows me that I cannot just think about what I must do, or be or how to live, I MUST DO IT! Also – the story of Achan, and the point – “I saw, I coveted, I took, I hid.” If that is not the pathway that my sin takes, I don;t know what it is!Thank you for wonderful evening. I hope to become involved with the BArn Guys…….
